Privacy

The short version: this site uses no cookies, does not track you across the web, and stores no personal data about you.
We count visits in an anonymous, aggregate way, the way a shop might count people coming through the door, so we know whether anyone reads this page. That’s all.
Who is responsible
This website is run by Matteo Morini Denkkappe, a sole proprietorship registered in the commercial register in Lugano, Switzerland (UID CHE-336.587.490). For any privacy question, write to Matteo.
Visit statistics
We use GoatCounter, an open-source, privacy-friendly analytics service run from the EU, with data stored on servers in Finland and Germany. It was built specifically to avoid collecting personal data.
What it records, only as anonymous totals:
- which page was viewed, and when (by the hour)
- the site you came from, if your browser shares it
- browser and operating system (for example “Firefox 139, Windows 11”)
- country, derived from your IP address
- language and screen width
- clicks on the email buttons, counted as totals
What it does not do:
- store your IP address or your full browser identifier
- set cookies, or save anything on your device
- assign you an ID or follow you to other websites
- share anything with third parties, or use data for advertising
To tell a new visit from a page reload, GoatCounter briefly keeps a combination of IP address and browser identifier in memory for up to eight hours. It is never written to a database and is then discarded. The data that is stored cannot be linked together: we can see that 40 people used Firefox today, but not who they were or what else they did. Because no personal data is stored and counting visits is in our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), no consent banner is needed. If you prefer not to be counted at all, a standard content blocker will stop the counter, and the site works exactly the same.
Hosting
The site is hosted on GitLab Pages by GitLab Inc. Like any web server, it necessarily receives your IP address to deliver the page, and may keep it in short-lived technical logs for security and reliability. See GitLab’s privacy statement.
No other third parties
The site loads no external fonts, social media buttons, embedded videos, or advertising. Links to LinkedIn and GitHub only take you there when you click them; from then on, those sites’ own privacy policies apply.
If you email us
If you write to us, we use your email address and message only to reply and to handle your request. We don’t add you to any mailing list or pass your details on.
Your rights
Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you can ask what data we hold about you, and have it corrected or deleted. For visit statistics there is honestly nothing to hand over: they contain nothing that identifies you. For emails, just ask.
